No matter what life you were born into, whether you be rich or poor, no matter the color of your skin, no matter where you live, you have had at one time in your life or another, a dream. Sometimes, we have many of them going on all at one time. I’m not speaking of the kind of dreams that you have as you fall deep into REM sleep. I’m talking about the dreams that come from the very core of your soul. I’m talking about those dreams that you have for yourself, for your life, for your future. Dreams are built upon passion. Passion comes from your Spirit.
Do you remember being a child? As children, we love to explore different things. Everything is brand new. Everything is a discovery. Ask any child that you know about his or her dreams, what he or she wants to be in this life, and I bet you that without hesitation, they will have an answer for you. They are filled with wide eyed wonderment and excitement. They are absolutely, positively 100% sure of these dreams that they share with you. Their dreams can change on a daily basis, or even minute by minute. One minute they may want to be a superhero, the other a race car driver. One minute they may want to be a princess, and the other, an artist. Children have no fear of anything because it hasn’t been instilled into them at this point.
Then something happens. Inevitably, at one point or another, as we continue to grow older, there will be someone who laughs at those dreams, someone who tells us it is not possible, someone who tries to take that dream away from us, be it a person that you know or don’t know, by your living circumstances, or even by watching something on television. Some of us are fortunate to have people in their lives as we grow up that try to keep these dreams alive. A lot of us though, fall into a trap that we didn’t know was there in the first place. It is the trap of fear. Fear is thrown at us from every direction. Our minds accept these ideas of fear, become used to these ideas of fear, and we begin to live our lives worrying about what will happen next, what won’t happen next, what if I’m not good enough to do that, and the list of fear-based thoughts could go on for miles.
Our dreams though, even if there are now cracks in them, are still always there, sneaking up on us, shaking us up, and trying to get us back up on our feet. When we really have something that we are passionate about, we are filled with excitement.
The fear can easily set in. Fear is a roadblock. Fear wants you to stay put. Fear is afraid of any kind of movement, and kind of change. But you can overcome this. You can erase this fear with one word. That word is ‘Choice’. Yes, it may seem tough, but it is a lot easier than you may think. Choose to follow that dream, whatever it may be. Don’t listen to the Fear, no matter where or whom it is coming from. Choose to CANCEL the fear.
You are stronger that you imagine yourself to be, and you can overcome whatever fear you have that is blocking the path for you. When you choose to cancel the fear, you will see that the path has been cleared away. You can breathe again. You can take a step forward now, towards that amazing dream of yours.
