Spiritual Q&A #32

"I've spent the whole of my life, attempting to rid myself of whatever is connected to me. Since i was the age of 2 i remember seeing into the realm of spirits, demons and the like. Watching on a swingset seeing armies or legions of the dead, slumping along the road. i don't sleep around reflective surfaces or with open doors. I hear thumping and screaming when i lay down. every night around the same time i experience the same events. my father is attached to the dark arts. And i am well versed in the world of spirituality. i 've had run ins with people that react to me in anger and violence. I receive visions in my sleep and premonitions, which are now coming true. i knew about the many deaths ive gone through and that doesn't make the fact that i cannot change fate and different. My question is nothing of an ordinary understanding. i have studied most my life and have a strong grasp on the topics of vamipirsm, divination, gematria, quantum physics and theurgy. i ask for help, how do i sever the ties connecting me to the world of the dark energies? Typical pagans know nothing, they say to put a name in a bottle and bury it. please help, once again how do i really without ambiguity destroy the connection with the darker side of spirituality? I have been unable in any respect to do so. i'm a little different from most people my age. thank you."

Hello Cordelia,

Don’t give any attention – whatsoever - to that which you do not want to experience in your life. Now you may say, “But, such and such keeps bothering me/won’t leave me alone.” Ignore it anyway. You really need to focus on your own power. You are the most powerful being in this realm. All entities must submit to your presence. That’s the honest truth. If they are convincing you otherwise, it’s because you are allowing them to and you are unaware of your power. The key word is “convincing.”

Spirituality is the relationship that you have with yourself. How do you feel about you? This has absolutely nothing to do with any doctrine, religion, occult practice, or anything else. If you continue to put these beliefs in between you and your relationship to yourself, then that means that you will be subjected to these influences, evaluating them, analyzing them, and giving your power away to them. By power, I don’t mean anything magical. I mean the power of God/Spirit (whatever you want to call it) within you.

What you put your attention into will multiply. This is one aspect of your power as a creator. If you believe that something or a person has power over you, then you must have given it your power some time ago. Or perhaps, you were never taught differently? It’s sometimes challenging to think of our lives differently if we’ve simply been taught the way we’ve been taught.

Here’s another thought: No matter what we believe, no matter what we know or what we have studied, I ask, what is the true mark of spirituality within those things? How do we know that what we know is the real stuff? My answer is, How much peace do you feel? How much love do you feel? Do you feel free or do you feel victimized? Do you think there could be a link between what you believe and feeling victimized?

I believe that any spiritual practice is only effective for us if it produces peace, acceptance, well-being, joy - basically anything life enhancing. I also think that a lot of folks confuse the “paranormal” or “spirits” (as in ghostly entities) with spirituality. Spirituality is not ghost hunting, nor is it doctrine or religion of any kind. Spirituality is a feeling that you have about yourself. You reach that feeling when you use a practice, for example, to turn within, but not by worshipping the practices themselves.

Dark energies are seductive. That’s their function. They fool you into believing you don’t have power (or that you have false power) while validating that you should continue believing in them. Dark energies spread to others and evoke dark energies in others. Like attracts like.

Spirit is what you are at your core being. Underneath all of these beliefs, the real you resides, and you are a beautiful human being. Your spiritual self does not care what your ego-self or personality-self believes in. Your spiritual self doesn’t believe in fate. It doesn’t need to believe anything. Only the little human self needs belief to get by, to feel validated, to not feel alone or afraid. And then we fall victim to that because we believe that a solution to “whatever we think our problem is” lies within finding an explanation within our belief system. The irony is that the belief system is actually not needed to discover and feel truth, but since we typically only allow a solution to arrive THROUGH our beliefs, we remain subservient to them and somewhat powerless to change our situation and thus create freedom for ourselves. This is why many "seekers" do not become "finders."

When do seekers become finders, I wonder? Tell me, where does true power lay if we are so sure that we know what we’re talking about or that we’ve studied this or that so we “know”? My answer: If we’re not feeling free, if we’re still playing the victim role to outside forces, then we have yet to discover what true power is, and thus, what our spiritual birthright is.

What’s the difference between something that serves your growth and something that does not serve your growth? Here’s my perspective: Solutions will arrive at a level of thinking (and being) that is higher in awareness than the level that created the problem. We just have to discover what “higher in awareness” means, and how to embrace it. And you don’t have to study anything to achieve it. Just quiet the mind and direct those thoughts to what you want, not what you don't want. Master that, and then come teach me, will you? :)

You’re a powerful being. Consider turning the sails in some new directions, consciously become aware of what you put your attention on, and watch the changes.

Hi Cordelia,

You sever the ties connecting you to the world of the dark energies by replacing them with ties that connect you to the world of light energies. It may be easier said than done, but it can certainly be accomplished, and it begins with a choice…the choice to see good instead of evil. Each of us only has the capacity to pay conscious attention to a finite set of energies. Therefore, we must choose to pay attention to those which are beautiful and of love instead of paying attention to those which are dark. You have the ability and power to see light and love in all things, everywhere all the time. Light and love are eternally with us, even in the midst of darkness, even in the ugliness and fear of demons. Replace images of demons with images of angels. Replace feelings of fear, anger, and anxiety with feelings of love. Goodness exists in all things that are of the truth, in all things that are of God. Always make the choice to pay conscious attention to the goodness that eternally surrounds you and you will permanently sever the ties to the world of dark energies.

Accept, enjoy, and appreciate the goodness that is here for you now.

I say to ask God to remove this (pray, pray, pray) and see a shaman.

Cordelia,

How sad for you that there is no connection with others on this topic. First of all, I would ask you: How do you feel about this gift you have? The reason I ask is that many times we create unusual gifts because they offer us something that we can't get otherwise. At some point, we may even misunderstand the nature of the gift. Only you know why you've created this in your life, and my guess is it has little to do with your father. If you feel the nature of the gift is intrusive and uncontrollable, then you need to find yourself a competent spiritual teacher who is adept at the inner levels to help you resolve this karmic issue. If it is not intrusive and unwelcome, merely annoying, you need to decide why you've created it and what you intend to do with it. You haven't given enough information to really counsel you here because many of these types of phenomena are generated from the mind of the perceiver and are influenced by value systems like religious beliefs. Whomever you choose as your friend or helper, you should be in alignment with their value system or be trying to shift into their value system to help you overcome your fears which are the source of your obstacles. While I totally believe in the power of each individual to create their own reality, there are some cases that do need a little helping hand to claim that power due to the nature of the belief systems and fears being triggered by the experience that make it overwhelming. Don't be afraid to ask for help from someone who can help you long-term.
